Is it still necessary to introduce this rock n' roll icon? Used in particular by David Gilmour, this effect has a rather incredible sustain.

More round and less grainy than its fellows, it could replace usefully a saturation pedal for metal rhythms, as the saturation is very compact and homogenous when playing power chords. Used for solos, one can have sustained and singing notes that last long just like if there was a compressor in action.
